Since I was wee, I’ve been totally besotted by the love and verve for all things ‘scots’, family, and life itself. In recent years, I’ve become more discerning. The point being, it’s not just the regionality of south west Scotland that’s special, it’s far more parochial than that. It’s a passion for Wigtownshire, more specifically the Whaup, where I’ve witnessed the emotions of living argued out in banter – friendly or otherwise, or passionately played and sung in a mind blowing celebration of talent, traditions and community. This is not a universal thing.

For those who claim to know what a song is about and like me, delight in a wild mix of traditional folk, country, rhythm and blues, topped with the odd rock and roll number then the Whaup Hotel is frequently the most sociable setting you could expect to take pleasure in
