Following the untimely death in 2004 of Jim McClune, the landlord of over 25 years Denise and Bill Hollinger took up the challenge of triggering the restoration of the ‘Whaup’. United in their vision to successfully rebuild its inimitable reputation for spontaneous music evenings, welcoming guests drawn from far and wide to chat with locals in the bar.

As guardians of tradition, Mike & Elaine Hunter are now at the helm where corporate carpets and curtains are banished, critically maintaining the relaxed, if not eccentric atmosphere! The hosts boast a bar with heaps of character and
characters, for that matter. They are rewarded for their efforts in their labour of love through knowing they are part of a long story.
