Research
The late Shelia and Jim McClune came to establish themselves
at the ‘Whaup’ in 1979. Their tireless efforts
on behalf of Cancer Research, Scotland began in 1992 and
through the generosity of the local community, they raised
£17,328.18 towards the causes, treatment and prevention
of cancer, the benefits of which will continue to be seen
for years to come.
They took time to organise a variety of events such as;
sponsored cycle runs, table top sales, quizzes, raffles,
clay pigeon shoots and of course, the placement of ‘the
glass bottle’ which sat like a silent witness at the
bar, quietly ‘downing’ the loose change.
Whatever the activity or weather, Shelia and Jim could
count on the highly valued support they received from all
those whose combined energies made the difference and, without
doubt, generated some laughs along the way.
